Frequently Asked Questions
Digital x-ray is safe. Our office uses a digital x-ray system, that produces radiation levels up to 80 percent lower than film x-rays. With Endodontic treatment x-rays are necessary to determine diagnosis and treatment of tooth, canal length and final treatment evaluation.
Our office takes every measure to ensure that the endodontic treatment is pain-free. We use topical anesthetic on the gum prior to administrating the anesthetic. For most patients, the feeling of numbness usually subsides after a few hours.
After the endodontic treatment is completed, it is normal to have some discomfort for a few days up to a week. Advil or Tylenol will take away any discomfort. We do advise to avoid any hard or sticky foods in the area until the permanent restoration is completed by your family dentist. If any swelling or severe pain occurs please call our office.
After the endodontic treatment is completed at our office there will be a temporary filling place on the tooth. You will have to return to your family dentist for the permanent filling. Your family dentist is specialized in the restorative work and keeps up with the new restorative materials. A crown may be advised and your dentist will be able to prepare the tooth for a crown.
